The case of wanderlust II

What is the perfect camera backpack for hiking? We asked ourselves this question many times during our bag search. At the end we narrowed our wishes down to these features:

  1. Water bladder compatibility

  2. ICU unit compatibility

  3. Water resistance/waterproofing

  4. Waistbelt for narrow waists

  5. Short Torso (for me)

And the ICU need to accommodate up to:

  • Canon EOS R5 w/ 100-500mm lens

  • Canon EOS R w/800mm lens

  • Additional lenses

After exploring many potential brands and combinations based on recommendations online, we finally decided on Shimoda Action X30 for me, and F-stop Kashmir 30L for David.

The R5 w/ 100-500mm fits perfectly in the Action X30 with the side access.

So far we have took them on multiple hikes on Oahu and the Big Island - including our visit to the Hakalau Forest where it rained pretty heavily. But both of the backpacks held up very well against the rain without the rain cover.
